Wedding trends come and go, but now it seems that the pace moves faster than ever, and it can be hard to keep up with all the new ideas. Some people pride themselves on being the height of fashion or having excellent good taste, but this is of course a very subjective matter!
Do all these things really matter as long as you have some brilliant fun photos to look back on? Many people would say not at all! However, if you really want to make sure you don’t look back and wonder what on earth you were thinking, according to The Sun, these are some trends to avoid, so you can show your snaps to your grandkids with pride.
The number one target is champagne towers. Do they lend a touch of elegant extravagance or are they kind of a tacky display? Apparently, they are becoming less popular, not so much because they are naff, but because they are just pretty difficult and messy to do, even by an expert. It also leaves the sides of the glasses feeling sticky.
The arbiters of taste also deemed the trend for pearls as a bit ‘last year.’ Pearls have been appearing everywhere, not just in jewellery, but also on dresses, tiaras, veils, and in the wedding accessories. Now it seems that they are out of favour. But surely pearls are a timeless classic that will never really date a wedding photo?
Other customs that are apparently old hat include the tradition of wearing a white wedding dress, religious readings during the service, and single-gender wedding parties, such as bridesmaids, or the maid of honour.
We say, as long as you do your wedding your way, it really doesn’t matter if it is deemed fashionable or not. What matters is having some brilliant and fun memories of being together with family and friends.
